Heeding God's Voice

Heeding God’s Voice: Stewardship

A Letter from the Pastor

Dear Emmanuel Community and Friends,

In the house I grew up in, we had a brass bell just outside the sliding glass door on the concrete patio. When I heard it ring in the evening, it signaled something good was about to happen at home…dinner! Stewardship Sept 2023 dinner bell

I lived on the edge of a wonderful cul-de-sac, where a lot of the neighborhood kids would get together and play. But when I heard that sound, I knew it was time to go home. We weren’t the only family with a bell, but each had their own unique sound, so you knew when it was yours. And when you got home, something delicious was waiting!!

We have focused for several weeks on Hearing God’s Voice and now, for our stewardship emphasis, we are focusing on Heeding God’s Voice.

Stewardship is like the bell ringing, reminding us that something good is about to happen, but we have to respond in order to discover what it is.

What could be better than returning home to God to discover what He has waiting for us?

Hearing and recognizing God’s voice is the first step. God does not speak to each of us in the exact same way, so we each need to be attuned to Him.

Stewardship is a tangible way we respond to His voice. Stewardship is defined by our relationship with God. In other words, stewardship is an expression of who we are and whose we are.

As we plan for 2024, I am asking you to be a part of our Heeding God’s Voice stewardship campaign
through your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.

We are also asking you to make a financial pledge as a way of sharing the blessings through the mission and ministries of Emmanuel UMC.

Stewardship 2023 scriptureStewardship Blessing cards have been mailed. You can also complete your pledge online HERE.

If you need a card, please contact the church office, or they will be available Sunday morning.

Please take a moment and prayerfully consider your response to God’s grace in your life and the ministry possibilities before us. If you have already responded, thank you. If not, you will be given another opportunity after the sermon this Sunday, September 24, to bring your card forward or place it in the offering plate.

I hope you will be present on Sunday for this meaningful time of commitment and celebration. If you are not able to attend, please take a moment to mail your card to the church, drop it by during the next week, or fill out the online form.

If you have never pledged before, or it has been a long time, I encourage you to join us.

Thank you for your generous support of the church and I look forward to serving with you!

Heeding God’s Voice Together,

Wade
